Yeah, yeah... that thing going around.

1. You can ONLY answer 'Yes' or 'No'.

2. You are NOT ALLOWED to explain ANYTHING unless someone comments you and asks— and, believe me, the temptation to explain some of these will be overwhelming. Nothing is exactly as it seems.

I love where I work.

Some of my co-workers decided sometime Tuesday night to redecorate my boss's office...

This is what happened )

It's daylight. I got some better pictures.

(They're big, be warned.)

Right front tire:

Front tire and fender damage:

Front bumper/missing foglight cover:

Then I put this together to show where the tire is, compared to where it SHOULD be in the wheel well:

The collision repair place just came and picked it up from my mom's house, so off that goes.. at least I've got 2 weeks of down time before I start my new job for things to get taken care of.

How was YOUR weekend? =P

I was trying to go home after mothers day.

Hit something in the road.

Caused me to swerve into a jersey barrier.

The 3rd picture shows just how out of place my front tire is. It's about 3 inches back from where it should be.
I'll get some better pictures when it's daylight.

Fuck.

I told people on my twitter that I would write about what happened during the Amazon interview, and here it is.

I get in to the site around 11:30 am. Buzz the door, and get let in to go talk to security. The security woman asked me who I was there to see, and she told me that David (the guy I was there to interview with first) was the guy we passed on the way in. Apparently, he fractured his finger and was on the way out to his orthopedic surgeon to get it taken care of.

Security gets me checked in and sits me down in the conference room while HR tries to figure out what to do. They eventually send in the last guy I was supposed to interview with who takes me back to his office. He asks me a few technical questions, and some leadership questions. Then we sit there. He didn't know what to do, as he was already done asking what he needed to ask, and we had time to kill before I had to conference in with the other interviewers. So he looks at me and says "Hmm... well.. you hungry?"

Off to Chipotle! We head out and get in his car, and head over to the Chipotle right down the street. So I totally got a free burrito out of it, and we sat there for a while and did some more chatting about general stuff. After lunch, we head back to the site where he dumps me off into the conference room on a conference bridge. 3 and a half hours on there, with 3 different interviewers from different departments out in Seattle. I did manage to wow one of the guys when I explained the site-wide networked video distribution system I set up in my previous job, so I hope that gets me some brownie points.

Then we cut to David again. He calls into the bridge on his way back from the surgeon's office so we can chat till he gets there, instead of just having me sit in the conference room. Then out of the clear blue he asks me "What kind of car do you drive?" It caught me off guard, so I just kind of replied "Uh... a subaru?" "An STi?" "Yeah."

I kind of figured out he was here at that point. Few seconds later, he hangs up and walks into the conference room. First thing out of his mouth was "... Didn't you used to have longer hair?" He had recognized me from when I was still in my old job, while I was the facilitator in the building Amazon's a customer in. This leads us into reminiscing about days past, then we started talking about cars.

An hour later, I finally realized we had completely derailed the rest of this interview and had to actually ask him "Hey... don't you, like... have some interview questions to ask me?" He got this look of 'Oh, yeah!' on his face and pulled up his questionnaire thing on his computer. He blew through them, then we went back to talking about cars for another 15 minutes. So we're now 45 minutes past the time the interviews were supposed to end, and I'm still there. We finally get up to start heading out and he takes me on a quick tour of their facility there, then headed back outside.

And we stood there shooting the shit for another 20 minutes while he had a smoke. Talked about some more car shit, took him over to see mine. He finally had to head back inside to get some work done, and I wanted to leave before traffic got TOO bad.

So that was my day at Amazon. Being as I'd be working for one of the two guys I interviewed with in person, and I seemed to hit it off with both of them quite well, I'm really hoping I get this job.
